Lifetime Movie Review - Kept Woman

Goodness, Lifetime, what is going on here?

I've seen way too many movies on Lifetime with this premise:

Couple moves to new town. Neighbor seems nice. Neighbor not so nice after all. Neighbor is a psychopath. Wife tries to warn her husband that neighbor is not so nice. Husband gets mad at wife and calls her crazy. Wife comes up missing. Wife is in the neighbors basement, being held against her will. Husband doesn't know where wife is. Now wife has to find a way to escape.

I give this movie 1 out of 5 stars because this concept has been done to death. I can't be the only person who realizes this...

Vasanti BrightenUp! | BIRCHBOX | Product Review

I received a sample of the Vasanti BrightenUp! Enzymatic Face Rejuvenator in my December 2014 BIRCHBOX. Just the name of the product had me anxious to try it. Face it ladies, we all have skin problems and are looking for the next thing to try to help relieve/prevent breakouts. So I tried this exfoliating cleanser and it was awesome! It contains coconut, aloe vera and papaya. I'm all for natural ingredients and this product is 99% natural. No parabens. No sulfates.

The directions say to wet your face then massage in a circular motion. I have to tell you...the micro-crystals rubbing against my face made me feel like I was in a spa, getting a professional facial. Awesome! I would highly recommend this product. It left my skin feeling smooth and clean.

Product Review - Beautiful Textures (Texture Manageability System)

So with all the buzz about the Beautiful Textures, Texture Manageability System, I decided to pick up a box of the product from Walmart. I've been natural for 3 years and since I am a 4C natural, my hair is tightly coiled, so I thought this would be a nice alternative to natural hair to be able to wear my hair straight for 4 - 6 weeks without having to get a relaxer.

So I followed the instructions and shampooed my hair with the shampoo in the kit. Then I followed up with the leave in conditioner. I blow dried my hair then I flat ironed my hair. The first day I flat ironed it, it was beautiful. The second day, my hair was completely frizzy and poofy. I was so disappointed being that I had an event to go to and the hair didn't hold up like the produce claims it would. Maybe it works for other hair textures, but not 4C hair. And the shampoo really strips all the oil out of your hair. It leaves your hair very dry and brittle. I would definitely not recommend this product and I will not try it again.

Carnival Dream Cruise Review - Part 1 - Camp Carnival

I cruised on the Carnival Dream in May 2014. I have to say that I was unaware of their Camp Carnival policy and thought I should make those travelers with young children aware of this information. The first day you get on the ship, you have to go to camp carnival orientation. During the orientation, I was given this:

That's right...Camp Carnival WILL NOT accept a child under 2 during "activity time" but they can go there on the times specified on the flier that they give you. For example, on our first sea day, we could take our 1 year old to the camp but only for one hour and we would have to "stay and play". What's the point of taking your child to the camp and you have to stay and play??  Parents want to drop off their kids so they can have some alone time and have fun; not be attached to their kids 24/7.

For children OVER 2, there's no fee until after 10:00 p.m.

If you have a child UNDER 2 and you plan on leaving them on the boat while you explore your destination (for instance we arrived in Key West and the Bahamas) think again! Here's another huge inconvenience: You can only leave your Under-two child at the Camp from 8:00 - Noon, and the $6.75 per hour fee plus gratuity still apply. So if we decided to do this option, we would have to rush to get back to the ship by Noon to pick up our child. So due to this great inconvenience of this, we opted to take our 1 year old off the boat with us.

Also, I want to make you travelers aware - if you have a child or special needs child who is not potty trained and they are over the age of 3, Camp Carnival workers WILL NOT change their diaper. They will, instead, give you an old-school, bulky telephone to carry around and will call you whenever your child's pull-up or diaper needs to be changed. Also, please note this important fact: WHEN YOUR SHIP GETS TO ITS PORT YOU CANNOT LEAVE YOUR CHILD IN CAMP CARNIVAL IF THEY ARE NOT POTTY TRAINED. YOU EITHER HAVE TO STAY ON THE BOAT WITH THEM OR TAKE THEM WITH YOU AS YOU EXPLORE YOUR DESTINATION.

Had I known this information upfront, I would not have booked a Carnival cruise with kids. In my opinion, these bogus policies are not taking families into consideration.

Additionally, when you book a cruise, Carnival gives people the option to pay their gratuities upfront, which we did. But every time we took our kids to the camp after 10:00 p.m., we had to pay additional gratuity. (Also, I noticed that whenever we ordered an alcoholic beverage, they charged gratuity.)

Why is Carnival encouraging people to pay their gratuity at the time of booking their cruise and still charging them extra gratuity on the ship?

Wordless Wednesday - Cozumel, Mexico
